AMRITSAR : Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the banned Sikhs for Justice, faces legal consequences as the Punjab Police has registered an FIR against him for promoting enmity between religious groups. The FIR, filed at Amritsar’s Sultanwind police station on January 23, stems from a social media video where Pannun allegedly questioned the historical significance of Shri Durgiana Mandir in Hinduism.

In the video, Pannun purportedly issued a warning to the temple management, urging them to close the temple gates and hand over the keys to the Golden Temple administration. The police acted swiftly, registering the case under sections 153A, 153B, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, along with relevant provisions of the IT Act.

This move signifies the state’s commitment to maintaining communal harmony and taking strict action against any attempts to disrupt it. The legal action against Pannun sends a clear message that threats and provocations targeting religious institutions will not be tolerated.
