Privatisation of power sector anti-people; would put extra-burden on suffering masses, disenfranchise employees- Ashai
Outrightly support call given by JKPEECC; every citizen should voice disapproval for such anti-people move.
Srinagar, 20th December (PTK): Reacting sharply against Government’s move to privatise power grids ; Senior Awami Itehad Party leader Sheeban Ashai castigated LG Government over yet another anti-people decision. He said, “We outrightly oppose the move to privatise power grids in Jammu and Kashmir; it would not only put an extra financial burden on common consumers but also greatly disempower employees engaged in the sector. It would pave way for outsiders to snatch jobs meant otherwise for locals; tantamount to handing over assets accumulated over decades on a plate to outside private firms. Ashai added that privatisation move would increase power tariff cost per unit from Rs2/ unit to nearly Rs8/ unit. This increase in cost of basic electricity for common masses in an ailing economy, would further add to the woes of already suffering people. This move without any shread of doubt would also greatly disenfranchise workers; employees, officers engaged with the erstwhile PDD department; strip them off safeguards or protection of any sort. It would prove to be a deadly blow for already side-lined daily wagers”. Ashai strongly excoriated move of the Government, added that it fails common sense why would present day administration want to put an extra burden on already stressed citizens. In absence of a people endorsed elected Government; we want present administration to desist from taking such drastic decisions that have a direct and far reaching influence on lives of common citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. Ashai urged LG Manoj Sinha to at once revoke this anti-people decision, renounce practice of imposing unilateral decisions on common masses. Yet again in this case also Government hasn’t bothered to take any of the stakeholders into confidence. Be it common citizens; civil society; employee bodies of relevant departments; political parties, LG Administration has criminally sidelined everyone and now this stalemate is wrecking havoc across J&K. Ashai extended complete support to protesting employees and demanded that anti-people decision of privatising power sector be revoked at once. :-PTK
