Police arrests 7 drug peddlers in Budgam & Anantnag; Contraband substances  recovered.

BUDGUMOctober 06(PTK): Continuing its crackdown against drug peddling, Police have arrested seven drug peddlers in separate cases in Budgam & Anantnag and recovered substantial quantities of contraband.

In Budgam, during naka checking at Hyderpora, a police party of Police Post Humhama intercepted a WagonR bearing registration number JK04J-6805. Two persons travelling in the vehicle, identified as Aejaz Ahmad Bhat @ Aej Gyale son of Abdul Rehman Bhat, and Tariq Ahmad Paul son of Ghulam Rasool Paul, both residents of Narkara, were apprehended. During their search, 151 grams of heroin have been recovered from their possession. 

In another operation, during routine patrolling at West End Colony, Hyderpora, police personnel intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK01AX-6404. The occupants identified as Faisal Ahmad Shah @ Afreed Kalia son of Gulzar Ahmad Shah and Ubaid Feroz Zargar son of Feroz Ahmad Zargar, both residents of Mohanpora, Narkara, were apprehended. During search, approximately 4 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered. 

In a third operation, a joint police party of Police Post Humhama, while conducting routine checking near the Airport Drop Gate, apprehended an individual during screening. A thorough search of his baggage led to the recovery of 69 grams of cannabis and 212 grams of poppy straw. The accused was identified as Shalu E.S., a resident of Kerala. 

Meanwhile, in Anantnag, a police party from Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at Batengoo Crossing near Beacon, intercepted Aamir Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Batengoo. During search, 140 grams of Ganja was recovered from his possession. 

In another incident, a police party from Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at G.B. Khalil, Naina–Tulkhan Crossing, intercepted Zaffar Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh resident of Parimpora, Srinagar, presently residing at G.B. Khalil, Naina. During checking, 38.87 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. 

Accordingly, cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered, and investigation has been initiated.

J&K Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug peddling and illicit trafficking, stating that sustained operations will continue to dismantle narcotics networks and protect society from the drug menace.(PTK)
