Police arrests 07 drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Awantipora, contraband substances recovered
SRINAGAR April 28(PTK): Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Ganderbal and Awantipora, Police have arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Ganderbal, officers at a checkpoint established at Kondabal Saffapora intercepted two persons riding on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01S- 9348. They have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Khan @Taza Khan and Mudasir Ahmad Shah @ Shoubi both residents of Saffapora. During search contraband substance were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Saffapora where they remain in custody. The motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Case FIR No. 20/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Saffapora. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
In Awantipora, officers at a checkpoint established at RH Cannal road Awantipora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03H-8526 with two persons on board. During search 01Kg of Cannabis has been recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Similarly, officers at a checkpoint established near Toll Plaza NHW intercepted a Maruti-800 vehicle bearing registration number JK01H-0232 with three persons on board. During search 500gms of Cannabis have been recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Case FIR numbers 51/2020 and 52/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
