On Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, Mirwaiz Extends Greetings; Condemns alleged attack on Er Rashid in Tihar Jail, deliberate humiliation of Kashmiri inmates, and denial of interim bail to ailing leader Shabir Ahmad Shah; urges authorities to ensure safety, dignity, and justice for prisoners.
Srinagar, Sep 06(Sep): On the blessed occasion of Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, today, I extend heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah. Let us strive to live by the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings of compassion, justice and service to humanity.
I also pray to the almighty to ease our suffering as gravely concerning reports of Er Rashid’s narrowly escaping a fatal attack inside Tihar Jail, and deliberate lodging of HIV positive prisoners with Kashmiri prisoners, instigated to provoke, attack and physically humiliate them, reach us. The denial of interim bail to veteran leader Shabir Ahmad Shah despite his ailing health is also very concerning. These incidents again highlight the dangerous conditions Kashmiri political prisoners face in jails and the denial of justice to them. As our constant appeals for their release go unheard, at least the safety and dignity of prisoners which is the responsibility of authorities, should be ensured. (PTK)
