NC-F MLA moving privilege notice against own minister shows level of discontent- Sheeban Ashai.
Srinagar, October 02(PTK): Reacting strongly to NC-F MLA moving privilege notice against own minister, JK People’s Party Chief Sheeban Ashai censured Omar Abdullah Government for demeaning sanctity of office of Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir. One can only imagine the level of discontent if an elected MLA of the ruling party had to resort to such extreme measures to voice displeasure against own government. Ashai said, ” It is the clearest public admission of deep internal rot, arrogance and dysfunction that define the NC-Farooq Abdullah government. When an elected representative of the same party is forced to move privilege notice against own minister for alleged unparliamentary, threatening language it exposes the true character of the dispensation. Power has gone to their heads; basic courtesy, collective responsibility, and respect for elected representatives have collapsed. This is not governance; it is a family-and-faction fiefdom where ministers treat even their own MLAs with contempt. This episode is only the latest symptom of a larger failure. The Autumn Session of the J&K Legislative Assembly that just concluded, in fact every session since the formation of this government in 2024, has been reduced to a mud-slinging contest. The House has become a stage for personal rivalries, theatrical walkouts and empty rhetoric. Substantive discussion on the real crises faced by the people has been systematically avoided. While ministers and MLAs quarrel over transfers and turf, the genuine sufferers of Jammu and Kashmir continue to wait. Protesting daily wagers and casual labourers who have spent years demanding regularisation and dignity of work remain unheard. NHM employees who carried the health system on their shoulders during the worst times still struggle for service benefits and security. Anganwadi workers, the backbone of nutrition and early childhood care, continue to be treated as an afterthought. National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers who served the people at the grassroots remain without resolution of their legitimate demands. Open merit students who cleared competitive examinations on pure merit find their futures delayed or denied by opaque processes and policy paralysis. MBBS-BDS graduates, Veterinary graduates face neglect and uncertainty. Not one of these long-pending issues has received serious, conclusive attention in the Assembly sessions of this government. No comprehensive policy, no time-bound roadmap, no honest political will has been demonstrated. Instead, the House has been used for score-settling and theatrics while ordinary people continue to protest on the streets. National Conference-F came to power promising delivery, dignity, and resolution of people’s problems. What the people have received is internal warfare, ministerial arrogance, and complete indifference to the unemployed, the contractual, and the aspirational youth of Jammu and Kashmir”. Jammu Kashmir People’s Party condemns this culture of entitlement and dysfunction in the strongest terms. Governance cannot be reduced to the personal convenience of ministers or the internal power struggles of a ruling party. People of Jammu and Kashmir deserve better than a government that cannot even maintain basic discipline among its own ranks while the genuine issues of daily wagers, casual labourers, NHM staff, Anganwadi workers, NYCs, open merit students, and medical and veterinary graduates remain unresolved.(PTK)
