Mughal road restored traffic after nearly five months
SRINAGAR, (PTK): The Mughal road connecting Poonch and Rajouri districts with the closure of South Kashmir’s Shopian, closed for nearly five months due to heavy snow in Jammu and Kashmir, was opened on Wednesday for traffic on one side.
A traffic police officer said that the snow on the Mughal road was frozen from five to eight feet, after which the traffic on this road was stalled since December last year. In March, work to remove snow in Rajouri, Poonch and Shopinia was started.
The officer said, “The snow removal work has been completed and traffic from today will start normally.”
He said that only the vehicles that move towards Kashmir will be allowed to go. Passengers on this route have been requested to contact the traffic officer before starting the journey.
The administration has given permission to construct a tunnel on this route to remain open in all seasons, which is being seen as an alternative to the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
