JK policeman killed by militants in Anantnag, snatch his rifle

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Militants on Friday afternoon shot dead Personal Security Officer (PSO) of PDP leader Sajad Mufti in Baba Mohalla area of Bijbehara town in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and fled away along with the service rifle of slain policeman.

As per the reports that reached PTK, militants fired upon the PSO of Sajad Mufti from a very less distance at the time when he was coming out of Masjid after finishing Friday congressional prayers. The bullet had hit the slain on chest and he was rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara. The doctors present on duty declared his dead on arrival.

“The slain had suffered bullet wounds on chest and he was dead at the time he reached the hospital,” Medical Superintendent SDH Bijbehara has told a local news agency.

A police officer while confirming the incident to press said that the militants have fled along with the service rifle of slain. Slain cop was identified as Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Khiram village of Bijbehara. (PTK)
