Militants give slip to forces in Anantnag gunfight
Press Trust of Kashmir| Srinagar:- After brief exchange of fire last afternoon, the militants have managed to give slip to the security forces in Watnard Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official told said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area on Saturday afternoon.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.
One solider Neshan Singh was killed during initial exchange of fire, however, no fresh contact was established with the militants.
He added that cordon layers were tightened after initial exchange of fire and search operation continued till Sunday morning, however, nothing has been found following which operation has been called off.:-PTK.
