Srinagar August 17 (PTK) Markets reopened and public transport services also resume operations as per a regulated schedule on Monday in Srinagar.
The decision to allow reopening of shops and resumption of operation of public transport service has been taken after careful consideration of different aspects of the situation as it exists in the district. It is notable that restrictions on business among other activities and operations in the district has been in place for around five months now with just a limited relaxation permitted during the month-long unlock period before restrictions had to be reimposed, DM Srinagar had sad
The markets reopened after th second lockdown enforced last month after a one-month-long unlock period whereas the public transport service will resume operations for the first time since March when restrictions thereon were imposed following outbreak of COVID-19 in J&K.
Some prominent religious places including shrines opened in Kashmir on Sunday for prayers after they were closed for over five months to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.
People offered daily prayers in some shrines and mosques of the Valley but took precautions like maintaining social distance and wearing masks.
Though small mosques in the mohallas and interior areas had already opened sparsely in the last few weeks but for the first time in the past five months people offered congregational prayers in prominent shrines like Dastigeer Sahib in Old City. People also said that they visited Khankah-e-Moula shrine on the banks of Jhelum.(PTK)
