Man Struck with Iron Rod in Ganderbal Property Dispute, Succumbs in Hospital; Police File Case

In a tragic incident highlighting the escalating tensions in the region, a man lost his life during a property dispute in Ganderbal district, central Kashmir. The confrontation between two families turned fatal when a 65-year-old retired government employee, Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh, was struck on the head with an iron rod.

 

Eyewitnesses reported that the dispute initially began as a verbal altercation over a land dispute in Bonzil Haripora area. According to local residents, the situation quickly escalated, leading to the fatal blow inflicted upon Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh.

 

Despite being rushed to the nearby PHC Wusen, medical efforts were in vain as doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. The tragic outcome has left the community in shock, prompting reflections on the diminishing levels of tolerance in Kashmir.

 

“It’s disheartening to witness such violence over disputes that could be resolved through dialogue and patience,” expressed a local resident, encapsulating the sentiments echoing throughout the region. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the urgent need for conflict resolution mechanisms and the restoration of peace in the area.
