SRINAGAR : In a significant move, the police have booked Nasir Ganie of Raipora Palhallan Baramulla under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities. The formal detention orders were obtained from the competent authority, allowing the police to detain him without trial for a year.
Ganie, identified as a hard-core instigator, has a history of involvement in various cases that disturb law and order, as well as subversion. Despite facing multiple FIRs, he reportedly continued his anti-national and social activities, prompting the authorities to take decisive action.
A statement from the police highlighted the seriousness of the charges against Ganie and emphasized the necessity of resorting to the PSA to curb his activities. The PSA is a legal tool that enables authorities to detain individuals deemed a threat to public safety without going through the regular trial process.
Following the booking, Ganie has been confined to the Central Jail at Kot-Balwal in Jammu, pending further legal proceedings. The move underscores law enforcement’s commitment to maintaining national security and dealing firmly with individuals involved in activities that pose a threat to the nation’s well-being.
The case serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in safeguarding public order and national security, as they work to address instances of anti-national behavior and maintain the rule of law in the region.
