KVK Rajouri celebrates ICAR Foundation Day   

RAJOURI, JULY 16 PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Rajouri, under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu, on Saturday celebrated ICAR Foundation Day.

More than 60 farmers including Progressive Farmers of the district participated in the programme.

Live telecast of release of stories of Doubling Farmer’s Income was also organized during the programme wherein the farmers listened to the success stories of the farmers who actually doubled their income.

The programme started with a welcome address by Dr. Suraj Parkash, Sr. Scientist of KVK wherein he welcomed all the farmers and other guests to the programme. He gave an overview of the programme and urged farmers to listen carefully to the addresses of various dignitaries and progressive farmers so as to learn various techniques to enhance farm income.

Dr. Arvind Kumar Ishar, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK while interacting with the farmers laid stress to adopt scientific farming. He advised farmers to practice Integrated Farming System to double their farm income. It was also enjoined upon to adopt income generating units like Mushroom Cultivation, Bee Keeping, Dairy Farming and Fruit orchards of high value crops.

Later Dr. Vikas Sharma, Professor, RARS, Rajouri interacted with the farmers and advised them to follow all the scientific recommendations and advisories to earn maximum benefits from their crops. Dr. Parul Gupta, Scientist gave an elaborated talk on the role of farm animals in doubling farm income. She also advised farmers to establish small dairy farms and goat units as these are the most profitable enterprises.

Tilak Raj, a progressive farmer shared his experiences and narrated his story of doubling his farm income. He advised fellow farmers to form groups and formulate FPOs for getting better value of their farm produce. He promised to extend all possible help to farmers to establish scientific farms and mobilization of farmers for group formation.
