Kashmir’s special status soon to become thing of past

High level meeting scheduled in Delhi after Aug 15, Omar Abdullah expresses worry

SRINAGAR, JULY 25 (PTK):  Next month is likely to prove Herculean to tackle for Jammu and Kashmir civil administration and security grid as GOI’s  high level meeting slated after August 15 in New Delhi  is set to take final call over scarping JK’s special status.

As per the sources, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the meet in which different cabinet ministers and secretaries are likely to take part. The meeting is most likely meant to discuss the strategy for finding ways to scrap Article that accords special position to Jammu and Kashmir state.

Credible sources have divulged to Press Trust of Kashmir that before the I-Day, nearly half a lakh forces personnel are set to be dispatched to  the already strife torn Kashmir Valley. However, no official confirmation to such report has been received till this report was filed.

The petitions which challenge the special status of Jammu Kashmir have been already filed multiple times in the Supreme Court (SC), however they were deferred time after reviewing situation in the valley.

Meanwhile former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah has come out with a statement, stating that instead of reassuring people in the valley, large section of the administration is busy trying to scare them to expect massive unrest and trouble after Independence day

”It’s surprising to say the least that instead of calming tempers & reassuring people in the valley large sections of the administration are busy trying to scare people to expect massive unrest & trouble after 15th August,” Omar, who is the National Conference (NC) vice-president, wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Along with the text, Omar also shared a news item, attributed to sources, claiming that a high-level meeting is scheduled in Delhi soon after August 15 to discuss the strategy as to how Article 35A can be scrapped in Jammu and Kashmir. (PTK)
