Kashmir shuts on 6th hanging anniversary of Afzal Guru
SRINAGAR, (PTK): Life remained paralysed in Kashmir valley on Saturday due to a protest shutdown called by the Joint Resistance leadership (JRL) on the 6th hanging anniversary of Afzal Guru.
The protest was called to observe his death anniversary and to reiterate the family’s demand for his mortal remains.
Guru was secretly hanged and buried inside the Tihar jail in New Delhi on this day in 2013.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed in Srinagar city while as public transport was also off the roads.
Reports of shutdown were also received from other district headquarters of the Valley, including Sopore – native town of Guru. (PTK)
