Justice Magrey  initiates plantation drive, calls for collaborative efforts to adress environmental challenges.

 

Ganderbal March, 13 (PTK)  Honb’le  Justice Ali Mohd Magrey today initiated a plantation drive in Kangan Ganderbal as part of a Mega Legal Service Camp organised by District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal in collaboration with district administration at Mammer, Kangan. While planting a deodar saplings on the banks of Sindh Canal, the Hon’ble Justice urged for proactive involvement of local people in plantation programs which will go a long way in achieving desired goals and adressing pressing environmental concerns like pollution, global warming, climate change and biodiversity loss. The Mega Legal Service Camp had installed stalls from all the line departments depicting awareness about their services & schemes. Forest Department also installed stall showcasing different plant species, Seed varities, MFP and medicinal plants besides generating awareness through brochures regarding schemes like CAMPA, J&k Green Drive, and acts like FRA, 2006 etc. Free plant saplings were distributed to local masses also. Pertinent to mention here that J&k Forest department is targeting to plant 1 crore plants in J&K by the end of March, 2021 under “J&K Green Drive”. In district Ganderbal around 3 lac plants are to be planted by March end to enhance the green cover of the district. (PTK)
