J&K Witnessed Transformative Changes in Healthcare in Recent Years: Dr. Abid Rasheed

SRINAGAR : Secretary of Health Dr. Abid Rasheed Shah highlighted on Friday that Jammu and Kashmir have experienced significant improvements in healthcare over the past few years. Addressing the second regional conference of the National Health Mission, Dr. Abid emphasized the enhancement of healthcare facilities and expressed optimism about the future improvements in the doctor-patient ratio.
Dr. Abid noted a substantial increase in MBBS seats, which have grown from 500 to 1300, with further expansions planned. “Paramedical institutions have also been established, providing essential nursing and other healthcare training,” he remarked, indicating an ongoing commitment to bolstering healthcare education and infrastructure.
The Secretary of Health also assured that efforts are underway to improve the doctor-patient ratio and develop human resources for critical care. He mentioned that teams from the Centre recently visited various healthcare facilities across Kashmir, interacted with patients, and provided valuable feedback.
Addressing the critical issue of resource gaps, Dr. Abid expressed confidence that these would be addressed in the near future. He also underscored the importance of conferences like the one held today, asserting that such events are crucial for continual improvement in the healthcare sector. The government, he added, will fully support the organization of similar future events.
Dr. Abid’s statements reflect a commitment to enhancing healthcare services and infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for a more efficient and responsive healthcare system.
