J&K police conducts high-intensity mock drill in Handwara.
Handwara, October 03(PTK): J&K Police in Handwara conducted a high-intensity anti-grenade lobbing mock drill at Kralgund Market to evaluate and strengthen the preparedness, coordination and operational response of security forces in dealing with emergency situations in a populated area.
The exercise was conducted jointly by SOG of Handwara Police, 32 RR, 47 AD of Indian Army and 92 Bn CRPF. The SSP Handwara supervised and monitored the exercise, reflecting the importance accorded to inter-agency operational preparedness. The drill simulated a grenade-lobbing incident in a crowded marketplace and was aimed at rehearsing a swift, coordinated response while enhancing inter-agency synergy and operational readiness. It evaluated response time, communication systems, deployment procedures, resource mobilisation and overall operational effectiveness.
Responding teams swiftly secured the area, enforced route denial measures, established an effective cordon, launched coordinated search operations, employed aerial surveillance, and simulated the apprehension of the fleeing suspect in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. The exercise also assessed the functioning of the Joint Police Control Room in receiving information, mobilising resources and maintaining real-time coordination among field units and responding agencies.
The successful conduct of the exercise reaffirmed the commitment of Police and all participating security forces to maintaining a high level of operational preparedness, rapid response capability and seamless inter-agency coordination for effectively responding to security contingencies, particularly grenade-lobbing incidents in populated areas.
