J&K CM Omar Abdullah Clears ₹25,000 Monthly Stipend for Medical Interns.

Srinagar, October 20(PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved an increase in the monthly stipend for MBBS and BDS interns from ₹12,300 to ₹25,000, bringing relief to medical and dental students across the Union Territory.
Following the approval, the Chief Minister has directed the Health Department to issue the necessary formal order without further delay.
The decision comes amid protests by MBBS and BDS interns, who had launched an agitation and announced an indefinite strike over the delay in revising their monthly stipend.
The interns had earlier received a written assurance that their demand would be resolved within 30 days. However, the failure to issue the order within the stipulated period led to growing resentment among the students and intensified their protest.
With the Chief Minister’s approval, the proposed hike is expected to address a long-pending demand of medical and dental interns in Jammu and Kashmir.
The formal implementation of the revised stipend will follow the issuance of the official order by the concerned department.(PTK)
