RAMBAN: The crucial Jammu-Srinagar National Highway grapples with closure for the second consecutive day, leaving around 400 vehicles stranded. Traffic Police officials cite road damage at Kishtwari Pather and Sherbibi, along with mudslides and shooting stones at multiple points on NH-44, as the reasons behind the shutdown.

A Traffic Police official stated, “Restoration efforts are underway at critical points like Kishtwari Pather, Sherbibi, Magerkote, Mehad-Cafeteria, and Dalwas. Additionally, the road surface is slippery at various locations along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.”

As a cautionary measure, the official advised, “People are urged to avoid travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway until the road is successfully cleared.”

Meanwhile, other key routes face challenges as well. The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road and the Mughal road remain obstructed due to the accumulation of snow, further complicating transportation in the region.
