J-K highway closed for second consecutive day

Jammu Aug  21 (PTK) The Srinagar-Jammu national highway remained suspended for traffic for the second consecutive day on Friday due to landslides and shooting stones at several places, officials said.

DSPT NHW Ramban, Ajay Anand said that the highway stretch between Banihal and Ramban is under landslides and shooting stones at over a dozen places including Sherbibi, Moon Passi, Ramsoo, Pantiyal, Digdool, Battery Cheshma, Monkey morh, Kelamoore, Maroog, Trishul morh and Chanderkote area.

He said about 150 stranded vehicles were allowed to move late Thursday but after fresh landslides the road was blocked again.

Anand said shooting stones and landslides were hampering restoration work and clearance of road will take time at least one more day.(PTK)
