Huge crowd attends funeral of slain Sopore militant

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Thousands of people on Monday morning assembled in Brath Kalan village of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district to attend the funeral prayers of Ishfaq Majid Mir – a local militant who got killed during three day long gunfight in Handwara.

According to an eyewitness , thousands of people including women and children attended funeral of slain Ishfaq . Loudspeakers in the area were reverberating with pro-Lashker , pro-militant , pro-Zakir Musa and anti-India slogans . Heavy rush was seen on the roads leading to the native village of slain Ishfaq .Ishfaq’s body was wrapped in a Pakistani flag .Women were seen singing songs Islam and freedom.

Soon after the funeral, Ishafq was laid to rest with moist eyes.People were seen visiting the parents of slain Ishfaq to express their sympathy with them.

Internet services are shut in Sopore areas while as huge deployments of forces have been made in the area in view of possible protests.

Slain Ishaq along with his comrade who is yet to be identified got killed in a gunfight at Handwara’s Babagund village .During this gunfight, five security personnel including a CRPF officer were killed while as ten others got injured. (PTK)
