Hizb militant killed in ongoing Kokernag encounter

Srinagar June 16 (PTK) A hizb militant was killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in area of Hangalgund Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Thursday.

An official said that a joint of team of police and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.

One militant has been killed so far while as operation is going on in the area, he said. (PTK)
