Historic Employee Solidarity Across the Himalayas: Ladakh Employees & Teachers Associations Join Hands with JKECC

Srinagar, October 21(PTK):

In yet another landmark and far-reaching development for the employees’ fraternity of the Himalayan region, the Ladakh Employees Coordination Committee ( Leh and Kargil) and Teachers Association of Ladakh ( Leh and Kargil) formally joined hands with the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) led by Shah Fayaz. The move is being hailed as “historic, unifying, and momentous” in the annals of trade unionism in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The announcement was made at a special joint session convened in Srinagar yesterday, presided over by Shah Fayaz, President JKECC, Chairman JK Teachers Association (JKTA), and National Secretary, Indian Public Service Employees Federation (IPSEF) — a personality widely recognized for his towering leadership and for championing employees’ cause at both regional and national levels.

Describing the occasion as “a magnanimous moment of togetherness and a turning point in the employee movement,”* Shah Fayaz extended a warm welcome to the Ladakh employee representatives and commended their decision to align with JKECC under the broader umbrella of IPSEF. Pertinent to mention that JKECC is the largest amalgam of employees in JKUT and the most influential trade union of Jammu and Kashmir.

“This auspicious amalgamation of employee forces from both Union Territories signifies not just unity of purpose, but unity of cause— a collective resolve to uphold dignity, fairness, and justice for every worker and teacher across the Himalayas,” Shah Fayaz elaborated while addressing the gathering.

He further emphasized that this alliance marks the beginning of a “new chapter of collaborative trade unionism”, where the strength of shared struggles will pave the way for collective triumphs. The integration, he noted, will amplify the collective voice of employees from both J&K and Ladakh UTs on all vital issues concerning the employees across the twin UTs.

Senior representatives of the Employees Coordination Committee Ladakh ( Leh and Kargil) and Teachers Association Ladakh ( Leh and Kargil) including
Khadim Raza,Haji Ali Bhotto,Mohammad Akram Wani,Syed Yaseen,Mohammad Iqbal,Konchok Namgyal Zanskar,String Angchuk Shargol kargil and others expressed their deep satisfaction and optimism over the development, stating that the leadership of Shah Fayaz has inspired confidence and hope among the workforce of both Union Territories.

“We see in JKECC and Shah Fayaz a vision-driven leadership that transcends boundaries and works for the empowerment of every employee, from the classroom to the office, from Srinagar to Leh,” remarked one of the Ladakh delegates on the occasion.

The joint front, now representing employees and teachers of both Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, will work under a unified framework to pursue long-pending employee-centric issues at administrative and national levels, ensuring their rightful place in the policy priorities of the government.

This strategic alliance under the banner of JKECC–IPSEF is being seen as an unprecedented milestone that redefines the contours of trade unionism in the northern belt of India — a development that strengthens inter-regional coordination, enhances representational strength, and reinforces the principle of “Unity, Justice, and Service.”

The meeting concluded with a joint declaration reaffirming the commitment of all participating bodies to a transparent, non-political, and welfare-oriented employees’ movement, rooted in cooperation, dialogue, and dignity of employees across the twin UTs under the dynamic leadership of Shah Fayaz.(PTK)
