Gunfight rages in Kokernag Anantnag

Srinagar June 15 (PTK) An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in area of Hangalgund area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Thursday.

Acting on a specific inputs about the presence of militants a joint of team of police and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.

As the joint team of forces zeroed in towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated leading to gunfight.

“Encounter has started at Hangalgund, #Kokernag area of #Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” Kashmir Police zone tweeted. (PTK)
