Kupwara,10 Aug (PTK): On hot summer days mornings,a large number of patients men, women and childrens from various far flung areas of north Kashmir’s Lolab valley burn in Sub district hospital (SDH) Sogam lolab as they wait for their appointment with the doctors who run private clinics and that too in the hospital buildings in SDH Sogam Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to the patients they wait for hours in the corridors of the main building of SDH sogam where near to this building two full time government doctors run private clinics in the government building, which is allotted to them for residency purposes only.
Dr.Ishfaq Ahmad Malik,Consultant gynaecologist and Dr.Mohd Ashraf, obstetrician and gynocologist has given residency in a government building at SDH sogam but instead of using the building for residency purposes both run private clinics in the same government building.Sources told daily Press Trust Of Kashmir that Dr.Mohd Ashraf grasp two hundread rupees and Dr.ishfaq Malik,One hundread fifty rupees from every patient in their respective clinics (residency rooms) of the government building in SDH Sogam.Irony is that, this all is happening in front of the eyes of Block medical officer (BMO) sogam lolab.
When contacted with Block Medical Officer sogam Dr. Firdous Ahmad he initially not admitted the query but after some time said that i recieved the same complaint before few months that both doctors had converted residency building into private clinics.”But,when i as a BMO initiated action against one of the doctor he (Doctor) threatned me that i will resign my job” BMO said
“If he will leave the job what i will do? I have no doctor then to treat the patients” BMO sogam did child mind question to this reporter.
When contacted Director general health services Kashmir (DGHSK) Dr. Ssaleem-UR-Rehman said that i will look into the matter. “Stern action will be taken against those found guilty” Director said, adding that there is no question of compromise or protecting the accused. (PTK)
