Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag Receives Extensive Assessment from Administrative Secretary Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed (IAS)

The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag was honored to host Dr. Syed Abid Rashid (IAS), the Administrative Secretary of Health & Medical Education, for a comprehensive day-long visit to its Associated Hospitals in Anantnag and its main campus at Dialgam.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Fakhruddin Hamid (IAS), Dr. Syed Abid Rashid engaged in meaningful dialogues with hospital authorities, esteemed doctors, and valued patients, gaining invaluable insights into the institution’s current status and challenges.
“Remarkable progress has been achieved by GMC Anantnag in a relatively short span, transitioning from a district hospital to a distinguished institute renowned for attracting students nationwide for MBBS, postgraduate DNB studies, and Paramedical courses,” remarked Dr. Abid Rashid, acknowledging the institution’s strides.
Accompanied by eminent officials, including Principal GMC Anantnag Prof. Dr. Anjum Farhana, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Dr. MY Zagoo, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Muzaffar Sherwani alongside Dr. Shahid Ahmad, Dr. Abid meticulously inspected various areas of the Associated Hospitals. Directives were issued to address departmental concerns and streamline operational efficiency, underscoring a steadfast commitment to continuous enhancement.
Dr. Abid attentively listened to the pressing issues raised by department heads, offering insights and solutions where possible. Interacting warmly with faculty members, consultants, and medical practitioners, Dr. Abid commended GMC Anantnag for its proficiency in advanced surgeries and specialized treatments. Emphasizing the imperative of collective endeavors, he urged towards elevating the institution to global benchmarks, recognizing its geographical significance and aspirational district status. Engaging with MBBS students during visits to various clinical labs further enriched the interaction.
Directions were imparted to officials from the R&B Department for the expeditious completion of the A’ Block at MMABM Hospital and the prompt resolution of pending works at the main campus in Dialgam.
Throughout the visit, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid graciously interacted with representatives from the media, appreciating their valuable suggestions and feedback, thus fostering an environment of collaboration and shared vision.
