Encounter underway in Sopore

SRINAGAR  April 08 (PTK) A gunfight broke out between forces and militants in Gulabad Arampora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday morning

Officials said that contingents of Army’s 22 RR, CRPF and Sopore Police cordoned off Gulabad Arampora Sopore on Wednesday evening after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants.

As the forces intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fire, which was retaliated and thus leading to a gun fight in the area.

Sources said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

The firing was going on from both sides when this report was being filed.
