Election Commission Issues Stern Warning to Political Parties Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
With the Lok Sabha elections looming on the horizon, the Election Commission has issued a stern warning to political parties, emphasizing the need to maintain decorum in public campaigning. The Commission, in an official statement reported by the Press Trust of Kashmir, has conveyed its intention to take strict action against any direct or indirect violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
In light of the upcoming elections, the Commission has placed additional responsibility on star campaigners and candidates, urging them to adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the MCC. This includes refraining from making appeals based on caste, religion, or language, as stated in an advisory released by the Election Commission.
Moreover, the Commission has emphasized the importance of honesty and accuracy in political discourse, warning against the dissemination of false statements or utterances without factual basis. Such tactics aimed at misleading voters will not be tolerated, asserts the Election Commission.
As the nation gears up for the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission’s firm stance serves as a reminder to political parties and leaders to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and promote fair and transparent campaigning practices.
