DIPR’s Cultural Unit Kashmir holds Drug-Abuse Awareness Programme at GGHS Wakoora.
GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 06(PTK): As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, the Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today organised an awareness programme on drug abuse at Government Girls High School (GGHS), Wakoora, Ganderbal.
The programme aimed to sensitise students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage them to adopt healthy, productive and responsible lifestyles. Students actively participated in speeches and other awareness activities based on the theme of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Exhibition and Cultural Officer (AECO), Cultural Unit Kashmir, Syed Shakeel Shan, emphasised the crucial role of parents in preventing children from falling prey to substance abuse. He urged parents to maintain regular communication with their children, keep a close and caring vigil over their activities and create a supportive environment where children can openly discuss their concerns.
The Head of the Institution also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of sustained awareness among students regarding the dangers of drug abuse. He appreciated the efforts of DIPR in taking awareness programmes to educational institutions and thanked the Cultural Unit Kashmir for organising the programme.
Noted folk singer Haseena Akhtar presented thematic songs highlighting the message of a drug-free society. Her performance added an engaging cultural dimension to the awareness campaign and received appreciation from the students and faculty.
At the conclusion of the programme, the participating students were felicitated with certificates and mementos in recognition of their active participation and contribution to the awareness initiative.
The programme reiterated the collective responsibility of families, educational institutions and society in building a Nasha Mukt J&K and safeguarding the future of the younger generation(PTK)
