DFO not allowing to loot forest land, green gold in Ganderbal:- People

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR GANDERBAL SEP 14:- The residents of Ganderbal district on Wednesday appreciated the efforts of DFO Ganderbal for making every effort to save an inch of forest land and green gold.
Locals said that since DFO Owais Farooq joined in the Ganderbal district, the loot of green gold and illegal encroachment has stopped in the area.
They said that such officers must be given time wherever they are posted so that they can work more for the welfare of people.
DFO Owais Farooq while talking to PTK said that we have recorded list of illegal encroachers and we are on it to retrieve the land grabbed in the area.
He said that we have set priorities and first we are clearing the land which has been brought under horticulture and agriculture and after that we will come to structures.

He said that under Forest rights act, eligible people can get benefit under it and if has constructed anything on it before 2005 then he has the right on this land due to which we had to slow down the eviction process till all cases will be verified.
Under forest right act as anyone gets rights then it is his own land then what will they do on it, that is none of our business, he said, adding that under this act any person can get rights upto 80 kanals of land.
He said that action is continuously being taken against those who are illegally occupying forest land and no body is allowed to take undue benefits of forest rights acts.
