Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Summoned by ED for the 6th Time in Connection with Excise Policy Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the sixth time in connection with the now-withdrawn Delhi excise policy case. According to an official statement provided to the News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir, Kejriwal has been instructed to appear before the ED on February 19.

Persistent Summons: This latest summons adds to the series of requests made to Kejriwal by the federal agency. Despite previous summons, the Chief Minister has abstained from appearing, citing the alleged illegitimacy of the summonses. He has reiterated his stance that the BJP-led Centre’s motive is to detain him prior to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled between April and May.

Contextual Background: The ED’s actions against Kejriwal follow the recent arrests of three senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders – Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh. These developments underscore the intensifying legal and political landscape surrounding the AAP and its leadership.

Political Implications: Kejriwal’s repeated summons by the ED and the arrests of key AAP figures inject a significant political dimension into the scenario. The ongoing confrontation between the ruling AAP and the central government further accentuates the polarized nature of Delhi’s political landscape.

Awaiting Developments: As the legal proceedings unfold and the political tensions escalate, the upcoming appearance of Kejriwal before the ED on February 19 will be closely watched. It remains to be seen how these developments will influence the political dynamics leading up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story as it continues to unfold.
