Srinagar, Nov 29 (PTK): An emergency meeting of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) was held under the chair of President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani.

In the meeting, the decision of the Government in which J&K Bank has been declared as a public sector unit was threadbare discussed.

According to a statement issued to PTK, in the meeting all the leaders of EJAC showed their serious concern on this decision and urged upon the Governor administration for revocation of this decision for the larger interest of the employees and people of the state.

President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani said that due to political and bureaucratic interference Public sector undertakings are already facing worst situation and more than one dozen public sector units are sick and at the verge of closure and their employees have reached the position of starvation due to wrong policies of the people at the helm of affairs and non availability of salaries for years together.

Wani said that many PSUs were giving dividend to the government but at present due to undue political interference, PSUs and their employees are in a worst condition.

He said that, keeping in view the worst condition of some of the sick PSUs, EJAC has repeatedly represented before the successive Governments to give administrative control to the J&K Bank so that new blood will be infused to those PSUs and the committee was also framed in 2011 under the chairmanship of the then Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and Drabu Committee has also endorsed the demand of EJAC but the Government could not implement that decision till now.

EJAC president said that our public sector units have large potential to serve the common people and to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youth.

Wani said that it would have been better if Govt. could have taken the decision for revival of those sick units instead of declaring J&K Bank as a public sector unit.

He said that J&K Bank is the collective asset of people of J&K and 5 lakh employees of the state are main stack holders of the Bank, so EJAC feels it moral responsibility to support all India J&K Bank officers and employees Association for protecting the autonomous character of J&K Bank for larger interests of people and employees of the state.
