Cyber Police Apprehend Two, Including Former Professor, Over Allegedly Inappropriate Social Media Posts in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 22(PTK): The Cyber Police Station in Srinagar has formally detained two individuals, including a dismissed professor and a Facebook-based journalist known as a “hawker,” for allegedly sharing objectionable content across social media platforms.
According to a police official who spoke with PTK, the accused have been identified as Dr. Abdul Waseem alias Bari, son of Ab Rahim Tak, a former academic from Bolsoo Kulgam now residing in Moomin Lane, Natipora, Srinagar, and journalist Asifa Bashir from Chattabal, Srinagar.
“The individuals were taken into custody for publishing and spreading objectionable material related to certain complainants on Facebook and other social media networks,” the officer stated.
Dr. Waseem has been transferred to Police Station Shergari, while Asifa Bashir is currently being held at the Women’s Police Station in Rambagh.
Authorities from the Cyber Police added that the investigation remains active and further updates will be shared in due course. (PTK)
