CRPF man arrested in alleged rape, blackmailing case in Sopore 

SRINAGAR, SEP 08 (PTK): A CRPF man have been arrested in Sopore for allegedly molesting, sexually harassing and blackmailing a woman from last two years, police official told Press Trust of Kashmir.

Earlier a woman from Sopore complained with police that a CRPF soldier has been molesting and blackmailing her for last two years.

A resident of Chinkipora Sopore, 50 years old woman (name withheld) has accused a CRPF man for molesting, raping and blackmailing her for last two years.

Her husband told PTK that the CRPF man who was posted in a nearby camp has been threatening her wife after raping her. Her husband said that the CRPF man had warned her, “I have made videos of you, I will make those video public on social media if you reveal anything”.

DySP Sopore, Mashkoor Zargar confirmed the arrest of the accused CRPF man to Press Trust of Kashmir. “As soon as the case was registered we started investigating it and yesterday we arrested the accused”, he said.

The accused has been identified as Iqbal Ahmad son of Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Garkote Uri in district Baramulla who is currently posted in 179 BN of CRPF.

A case has been registered against the CRPF man under FIR number 234/2018 RPC 452, 376, 506 and further investigation is on, police said. (PTK)
