Consume cherry and local fruit to save our growers from economic loss: Qayoom Wani

Srinagar, Jun 01 (PTK): In as sequel to his earlier appeal Former EJAC President and civil society member Abdul Qayoom Wani has appealed the people of J&K to pay heed to the fervent appeal made by the fruit growers fraternity at as time when the cherry fruit is ready to be marketed but due to COVID-19 and its consequences the outside markets and mandis are closed and the fruit crop is likely to rot in boxes if not consumed alternatively back home.

In a statement issued to PTK, Wani said that time has come when every household should make the fruit eating as habit with meals as part of salad and also at bedtime and at breakfast.

Wani appealed the fruit dealers to sell the local fruits on managable price so that each family can buy as daily family pack.  He said that as conscious citizens and as a part of brotherhood we should help our growers by consuming by local fruits to save them from economic loss to some extent.

Wani also appealed the media to play its role to highlight the medical benefits of cherry, apple and strawberry. (PTK)
