Congress questions silence of govt over video showing Indian soldiers held captive in China

SRINAGAR, OCT 15 (PTK): The Congress on Friday questioned the government’s silence on the veracity of a video that purportedly showed wounded Indian soldiers in captivity of the Chinese and said if it is genuine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ensure that China must be held accountable globally for its involvement.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said what is very disturbing for every Indian is that the video of Galwan released by the Chinese shows “our brave soldiers injured and in Chinese captivity”.

“The silence by our government on the veracity of this video is mind-boggling. If this video is genuine, then by all standards, it would fall under the category of war crimes, for which China is certainly liable to be prosecuted under the International Criminal Court. , “he insisted.

“Instead of patting each other on the back, India’s Prime Minister and Home Minister should ensure that China is held accountable globally for indulging in war crimes against our brave hearts,” he said.

The government is yet to react to the video, but BJP MP Subramanian Swamy tweeted, “This is a horrifying sight if proven and the Modi government is heartless.”

Swamy said, “Why did the Modi government not give any state honor ceremony to those killed in the Galwan war? There was a nationwide mourning for the non-combat death of CRPF jawans (the bus carrying them was blown up) in Pulwama.”

Khera said that China shamelessly objected to the Indian Vice President’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, he crosses the Tun Joon La pass in Uttarakhand and enters 5 km into India’s sovereign territory along Barahoti and before returning to our Border – destroys military infrastructure. (PTK)
