Congress demands compensation to fruit growers
Srinagar, Mar 12 (PTK): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded full compensation to the fruit growers of Tral (Pulwama) and elsewhere in Kashmir.
In a statement issued to PTK, expressing serious concern over the losses caused fruit growers in Tral (Pulwama) and elsewhere in Kashmir due to heavy snowfall, senior Congress leaders hit out at the Lieutenant Governor administration over not taking cognizance of the losses, demanding full compensation in favour of growers.
They said mere paper work by the administration ‘on this count’ won’t address the anguish of growers. “The Lieutenant Governor administration must take effective measure to ensure that growers are compensated fully,” they said.
“The Growers from Tral and other areas have sought intervention of the Congress party into the matter, seeking compensation against the losses they have suffered,” the leaders said, adding that growers have undergone tremendous damages due to snowfall. The leaders sought immediate redressal of their grievances by way of providing them compensation, on war footing basis. (PTK)
