Ganderbal February 22 (PTK) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the long-awaited Akhal-Kangan Bridge in Ganderbal today, enhancing connectivity for numerous villages in the region. The 84-meter bridge, spanning the Sindh River, was sanctioned in 2008 with an estimated cost of ₹8.96 crore. Its completion addresses a significant infrastructural need, as residents previously faced considerable difficulties due to the lack of a proper crossing.
The bridge’s opening is expected to boost economic activity and improve the quality of life for thousands in the district. Local MLA Mian Mehar Ali expressed gratitude to all officials involved in bringing the project to fruition, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing regional infrastructure.
Residents have welcomed the development, anticipating that the bridge will significantly ease transportation challenges and foster progress in the area.
