Clearance Work Progresses on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Blocked by Landslide and Shooting Stones
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remains blocked following a landslide and shooting stones yesterday afternoon at Kishtwari Pather, affecting areas including Mehad-Cafeteria, Rampari, Gangroo, and Chamalwass. While clearance work is underway, only standard vehicles are permitted to travel through Kishtwari Pathar.
Officials confirmed to the Press Trust of Kashmir that the highway was reopened this morning for standard vehicles only. The closure was prompted by hazardous conditions caused by the recent adverse weather, including heavy rainfall and snowfall from February 19 to 21.
Although machinery is actively involved in the clearance efforts, commuters are advised to exercise caution. The highway will fully reopen to all traffic once the clearance work is completed and the road is deemed safe from any further landslide risks.
Stay updated for further developments regarding the reopening of the highway and plan your travel accordingly to ensure a safe journey.
