Budgam encounter ends: Two JeM militants killed, 5 forces personnel injured

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Two militants have been killed in a gunbattle between security forces and militants in Satsoo Kalan village in Chettergam area of Budgam in central Kashmir.

As per reports that reached PTK,  two unidentified militants have been killed while five of security forces personnels have suffered injuries in this operation. The bodies of slain have been recovered but are yet to be identified.

50 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army jointly with CRPF and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a cordon and search operation in Satsoo Kalan area of Budgam before the sunrise after getting inputs about presence of some two-three militants in the area.

When the forces started searching for the militants and reached a suspected spot, the militants who were hiding in a residential house fired upon them leading to an encounter.

In the initial exchange of fire, one militant got killed while four of security forces men suffered injuries.
The firing continued for hours and finally stopped with killing of second militant.

The sources said that the slain were affiliated with militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad. There was no official confirmation about it.

Soon after the gunfight, high speed internet services were reduced to 2G in parts of Budgam and Srinagar.
