Body of Missing Territorial Army Soldier Recovered in Kokernag

Srinagar, October 8: The body of a missing Territorial Army soldier, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, was recovered on Wednesday in the Kokernag forests of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Bhat, a resident of Mukhdampora Nowgam, had gone missing on Tuesday evening during a counter-terrorist operation.

A senior police officer stated that a massive search operation was launched by police and the army early Wednesday morning to locate the soldier. His body was discovered during these efforts. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent death.

Earlier, The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the operation in Kokernag, initiated based on intelligence inputs. The joint counter-terrorist operation, conducted alongside Jammu and Kashmir Police, continued overnight after Bhat’s disappearance. Further details are awaited.
