Chairman DDC hails Power augmentation, strengthening initiatives in the district
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SAMBA, JULY 26: As part of ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence, the Ministry of Power today organized a ‘Bijli Mahotsav’ Ujjawal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya programme here at AK Resorts Baribrahmana.
The progamme was organized by the Department of PDD in collaboration with the District Administration Samba.
Chief Guest, Chairman District Development Council, Keshav Dutt Sharma inaugurated the event in presence of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta, DDC members and other dignitaries.
The Bijli Mahotsav being celebrated across the UT of J&K, is a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Central Governments and highlight the key achievements of the power sector.
The PDD authorities highlighted the key achievements in the past few years including addition of 169 GW generation capacity, transforming India from power deficit to power surplus country, adding of 1.6 lakh Sq.km of transmission lines, connecting entire country into one grid running on one frequency and emerging as largest integrated grid in the world, Achieving 100% village electrification (18,374) in 2018 and 100% household electrification (2.86 Cr), provision of Rs 2.02 Lakh Cr outlay for system strengthening which increased power supply in rural from 12 hours in 2015 to average 22.5 hours at present, the Country emerging as fastest-growing RE capacity – doubled from 76 GW in 2014 to 160 GW, achieving 40% RE Gen. capacity mix in 2021 attaining 4th position globally.
The Bijli Mahotsav is being celebrated all over the country under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047 to encourage maximum public participation and getting across the developments in the power sector to the citizens at large.
To engage with the visitors and guests, a variety cultural show, nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector was also organized.
The vote of thanks was presented by ADC Suram Chand Sharma.
Among others present on the occasion included Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, ADC suram, SE JKPDD Kartar Chand, DIO Ajay Sharma, DIO (NIC) Sanjeev Kapoor, Executive Engineer B N Bhandari, Nodal officer Raghunath jhoor, besides Others from Department PDD and locals, beneficiaries students and others were also present.
