Baramulla College celebrate World Press Freedom Day

SRINAGAR, MAY 04 (PTK): World Press Freedom Day was observed by Department of Media Studies (DMS) at Government Degree College Baramulla.
DMS had invited Senior Journalist Riyaz Masroor, Correspondent British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) based in Kashmir for a guest lecture and to interact with the students about the importance of Press Freedom.
The session commenced with the inaugural speech by the worthy Principal Prof. F. R. Beigh and included a question answer session with the media students in which various questions regarding the issues faced by the journalists in fields in terms of Press Freedom were posed. Few films made by the Students were also screened during the session.
The whole event was moderated by a faculty member of DMS, Akhtar Niyaz and finally concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by a senior faculty member Mr. Parvez.
World Press Freedom day is celebrated every year on 3 May to raise awareness about freedom of the press and remind government of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression. (PTK)
