PTK News Desk

The J&K Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken swift action by apprehending Gulshan Singh, a Patwari from Halqa Machhedi, Kathua, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹3000. Singh was allegedly soliciting the bribe in exchange for issuing Virsati Intqal mutations and legal heir certificates.

The complaint, lodged by a Machhedi resident, detailed Singh’s demand for ₹5000 for the issuance of these crucial documents. The complainant, who had applied through the revenue department’s online portal, met with Singh, who allegedly accepted ₹2000 as an advance payment and insisted on receiving the remaining ₹3000 before completing the paperwork.

Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB swiftly registered Case FIR No. 02/2023 at Police Station ACB Central and initiated an investigation into the matter.

A trap team was formed as part of the investigation, which successfully caught Singh red-handed while he was demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹3000. The arrest was made on the spot, following all legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.

Following Singh’s arrest, searches were conducted at his residential address in Ward No. 21, Ram Nagar Colony, Kathua, as part of the ongoing investigation.

The ACB reassures the public that further investigation into the case is underway, underscoring their commitment to combatting corruption and ensuring accountability within government institutions.
