Cyber Cell Ganderbal Cracks Down on Cyber Crimes: Recovers ₹16 Lakh Worth Smartphones and Accounts for ₹17 Lakh in Financial Frauds

Ganderbal, December 31(PTK) In a remarkable achievement, the Cyber Cell of Ganderbal Police has reported significant progress in combating cybercrimes over the past nine months. Since its establishment in March 2024, the cell has achieved notable milestones in recovering lost or stolen smartphones and resolving financial fraud cases.

Recovered Smartphones Worth ₹16 Lakh:

A total of 87 smartphones have been recovered, of which 74 phones were returned earlier, and 13 more were handed over to their rightful owners today in a formal event.

The cell accounted for ₹17 lakh in financial fraud cases, with ₹3,78,527 already refunded to victims.

Over 56 cases involving blackmail and social media account hacking were successfully resolved, providing much-needed relief to victims.

SSP Ganderbal praised the Cyber Cell’s efforts and assured the public of the department’s unwavering commitment to tackling cybercrimes. He encouraged residents to report cyber-related issues and promised that all complaints would be handled with diligence and sensitivity.

To enhance public assistance, a 24×7 Cyber Helpline (9541786772) has been launched for citizens of Ganderbal, ensuring immediate support for cybercrime victims.

During the meeting, victims expressed gratitude for the police’s dedication and prompt action in recovering their phones and addressing fraud cases.
