Srinagar, July 29: Mirwaiz North Kashmir and Chairman Muslim Mutahida Mahaaz J&K Moulana Parray Hassan Afzal Firdousi appealed Central and State administration for allotment of basic facilities to govt institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a press release issued today Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi said, “the success and economic development of nations are determined by their educational systems.. There is a direct relationship between school infrastructure and educational performance. People’s access to education depends crucially on the educational infrastructure in place.”
Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi highlighted the issue that insufficient classrooms, outdated equipment, and inadequate sanitation facilities can hinder the overall learning experience for students. Ensuring that government school teachers receive proper training and maintain a high standard of teaching is imperative.Hundreds of govt schools in Kashmir operate from rented accommodations.
He added that UT administration should realise the ground realities and should come up with a plan to provide basic infrastructure in all the Government schools and should especially ensure availability of desks, books ,chairs, heating and cooling arrangements, hygienic drinking water facilities and adequate sanitation.
He outlined that it may sound bizarre but is true that more than 10, 000 Government schools in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are without playgrounds, while 6067 schools are functioning without electricity.Furthermore, around 72% of children in the second primary class share a classroom with one or more classes.
There is a noticeable disparity in the representation of teaching staff between the schools in urban areas and those in rural areas, especially in the far-flung regions. The acute shortage of teaching staff in these schools has triggered a “crisis-like” situation, said Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi.
