3-day course on “Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases” commences at Police Academy

Udhampur, May 27: A 3-day course on “Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases” commenced here at the Police Academy. Nineteen officers from various units of the J&K Police are participating. The course aims to educate officers on the latest techniques in traffic accident investigation.
The inaugural function featured Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, Dy. Director (Indoor, Trgs) as the Chief Guest. Sandeep Mahajan, Inspector, welcomed the chief guest. In his address, Gupta emphasized the importance of identifying the causes of traffic crashes and running awareness campaigns on traffic rules and accident victim handling.
He highlighted the importance of attention to detail, leveraging technology like forensic tools and crash reconstruction software, and preserving evidence to prevent contamination. He stressed the need for empathy and professionalism when dealing with victims and witnesses and the importance of collaboration with traffic engineers, emergency services, and legal teams. Continuous learning and adherence to ethics and integrity were underscored as vital components of the investigative process.
The course, coordinated by Inspector Sandeep Mahajan and HC Balbir Singh, aims to equip officers with the skills to conduct thorough and impartial investigations, ultimately enhancing road safety and justice in the community.
