Maharashtra Residents Arrested for Alleged Online Fraud in Jammu and Kashmir

 

Two individuals hailing from Maharashtra, Parsanna Iyer and Dipin Sarkar, found themselves in police custody on Tuesday over their alleged involvement in an online fraud case targeting residents of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. The fraud, estimated at approximately Rs 6.7 lakh, sparked an investigation following a complaint filed at the Billawar Police Station.

 

According to sources from the news agency Press Trust of Kashmir, the arrests were made after diligent efforts by law enforcement personnel. The suspects, identified as residents of Thane district, Maharashtra, were apprehended as part of an ongoing probe into online fraud activities in the region.

 

Led by Billawar Station House Officer Inspector Jatinder Singh, the police team executed the arrest and seized crucial evidence, including a laptop and seven mobile phones, from the possession of the accused individuals.

 

The incident underscores the growing concern of cybercrime and the need for robust measures to combat such activities. As technology continues to advance, law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant in their efforts to protect citizens from online scams and frauds.
