Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Grapples with Blockages: HMVs Stranded Amid Mudslide and Shooting Stones

The lifeline connecting Jammu to Srinagar, the National Highway, faces significant disruptions as multiple sections between Nashri and Banihal witness blockages caused by mudslides and shooting stones. Commuters and transporters are stranded, with thousands of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) unable to traverse between Dalwas and Banihal.

Areas such as Dalwas, Mehar, Gangroo, Mom Passi, Lower Nachlana, and Kishtwari Pathar have been particularly affected, exacerbating the already challenging journey along this crucial route.

Authorities are working tirelessly to clear the debris and ensure the safe passage of vehicles. However, the unpredictable nature of these blockages underscores the need for long-term solutions to mitigate the impact of natural hazards on transportation infrastructure.

Commuters are advised to stay updated on the situation and consider alternative routes if possible. The blockages serve as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of mountainous regions to geological hazards, highlighting the importance of proactive measures in ensuring connectivity and safety for all travelers.
